Whenever a new technology emerges, it has the potential to change activities and pattern of human live in their home, work place and society. When internet was introduced, it sparks up a role of argument. Many were optimistic about the usage and the effect on their daily activities but some are skeptical and view internet as threatening and disruptive. This group of people believe internet disrupt society, dissolve communication, erode privacy, and encourage selfish behaviors, while the first group believe internet brings people closer and make communication easier thus help in global business opportunities.

In olden day, it cost a bomb for family members to communicate to write to one another in faraway land like Australia or America. Some of this family member only gets to see one another or communicate with one another only once a year. However, in this internet era, family members can communicate with one another wherever they are at a very low cost, they can even write reply to one another in a very short time frame. Better still, family member can upload photos and even see one another online live. Distance lover is longer a problem and relationship becomes easier.

Internet brings the world closer and smaller, before internet emerges, people from different region seldom communicate or know one another. It is almost impossible to have friend of different race from different culture. In this internet age, people make friends through website, instant messages, email and many other sites through the internet. To communicate with a friend in German is as cheap as communicating with a friend in the same town, thus they can communicate, fellowship and have fun with people from all over the world without spending large sum to buy air ticket.

Internet breaks down logistical barriers for business. Before the internet era, business man has to consider many difficult processes. In this present era, business is simpler and internet serves as a communication tool to bring business man closer. Online business becomes one of the powerful tools in big company. A small company in remote area is no longer a disadvantage, a combination of software and internet connection has the world as its marketplace.
Today, most people can access internet in their home, workplace and school, parents can monitor their children from workplace, bosses observe their workers through internet and student communicates with friends easily. Internet brings the people closer, shortens distant, and make the world smaller.
